Biography

Incest is an experimental metal/aggressive rock band that plays serious music but isn't afraid to have fun with it. We don't care about genres, we just care about making quality energetic music. However, because we're a bunch of wise asses who love to shock and offend, our music tends to lean towards brutal, marginalized genres like death and black metal, thrash, hardcore, and grind. Our logo fulfills that same purpose, and no, we're not racists or any of that bullshit, we just love to fuck with people and push the envelope, either dig it or don't. Despite all the brutality of our stuff, there is still plenty of quirky humor and experimentation to be found within, just check out Mrs. Lincoln, or various parts of songs like the intro to Living is Bad.

Incest was formed as Alabama Windchime by lead guitarist Andrew "Tormentor" Manuele and vocalist The Lord Stefan Emil Johansson in January 2007, after a few failed attempts dating back to July 06. Andrew was looking for a more brutal project than his other band Noxx (now Aequitas a Noctem) that he could focus on playing guitar in (Andrew also does vocals in Noctem, in addition to currently doing vocals in Shattered Revelation). Stefan had previously been in Blood of the Rose and Struggle for Existence, and was bandless at the time. He currently also does vocals in So I Died. Andrew brought Derek "Aggressor" Somers (ex-Noxx) to do Bass, and Cristian "Deathcrush" Leiva (Noxx/Aequitas a Noctem) to do Drums. Stefan brought Mike Cullen (who didn't remain long enough to make a band alias) to do Rhythm Guitar.

As Alabama Windchime, the band wrote Necrospasm and Aside From That Jackie before changing their name to Incest. In the early Incest days, Besides That Mrs. Lincoln was written, before Mike was fired and replaced by Jon "Soulreaper" Kreiter (ex-Noxx). At the time, Jon seemed like a saving grace, but that feeling didn't last for long. Work began on Living is Bad for the Environment and Flaming Wings of Crimson Death, but they were never finished with Jon. Home demos of the three completed songs were recorded and the band played a few times at the Hastings High School Open Mic Night. In the beginning of Summer '07, Stefan's internship at the PVA recording studio in Mt. Kisco allowed the band to record there for free, and so the songs were re-recorded. Spasm and Jackie ended up sounding too polished, not brutal enough, and not Incest enough for us to put up, but the current recording of Mrs. Lincoln is from this time. Soon after recording, Jon was fired for being frequently absent at practice, and Derek quit basically just to piss Andrew off. It didn't work, and no one really missed him. The remaining three members then decided to call a hiatus, due to Andrew's trip to Hawaii, the lack of a bassist and second guitarist, and activity of other projects.

A fateful discussion between Andrew and Stefan resurrected Incest, with new rhythm guitarist Noah "(sic)ko" Rosenfeld (who had previously been in Noxx and also made Incest's logo) and bassist Jack "the Ripper" Bailin (formerly of Blood of the Rose, Struggle for Existence, and eventually So I Died). Ironically, both of them were candidates for those spots in the first incarnation of Incest. The busy schedules of Stefan and Jack prevented the band from meeting regularly, but Andrew Cris and Noah managed to make progress, completing Living is Bad and Flaming Wings, as well as the newer Rock (Paper Scissors) and The Pear of Anguish. The summer as well as schedule changes have allowed Stefan to show up more frequently recently, but the band had to let Jack go due to his lack of dedication. We are currently seeking a bassist.
